A snapshot of guest ratings and stories behind the stay.
“Lovely, querky local pub with friendly and genuine staff. We came early to beat the crowds (highly recommend you book ahead of you want a seat in the air-conditioning), but the atmosphere on the benches outside was just as fabulous. Food was served promptly and freshly cooked. We ordered a falling off the bone lamb shank with creamy mash, succulent scotch fillet steaks with a pepper sauce to die for. The battered snapper was moist, crispy and scrumptious. The nuggets and chips tasted like real chicken. The plates are licked clean Highly recommend. Will definitely be back!!!”
“Our two meals were so worth the walk across the bridge from the centre of town! Nice sunset over the river on the way there and good lighting on the way home. The food was fresh and delicious and the beers were cold. Will be stopping there again for dinner on our next trip through Hay”
“We stayed at the caravan park across the road. After a long day, we decided to eat out. Fabulous food, great service, really friendly staff - made our day. We booked a table for the next night as well. Highly recommend.”
“Stayed in Hay for 3 days. On our last night we had dinner in this fantastic pub and could not be more pleased. The staff were amazing, there was a fair warning about the possible wait for meals. We made friends with some travellers and before we knew the meals arrived, cutting short our jibber jabber. The meals were outstanding. I had a Barramundi like I've never had, sweet, succulent and amply sized. My wife had veal schnitzel so tender she had not found before, and our sides were just great. While I did not partake of any wine, the wine list shows great variety with a range of whites and reds from many states and many which I've enjoyed in the past. Great taste in wines from many regions rather than just opting for the nearest local product. Brilliant effort team and thanks for your service and attention. Don't know my name's but thanks for the cotton.”
“Popped in for some takeaway dinner. The place was packed and all the staff were lovely despite being under the pump. There was a bit of a wait for food which they pre warned me and offered to text when it was ready. Food was delicious, good schnitty and parmy.”
“Sensational experience - staff were very friendly and food was great and one of the best cold carlton draught on tap in Australia. Thanks again”
“Great local pub which is obvious by how well supported it is by locals (hard to find these days). We had a couple of beers and a feed. Beers were cold and the food was excellent. Staff were very friendly. Dog friendly in the outdoor areas. Would visit again if passing through this way.”
